A VISIT FROM ‘RONA

’Twas a month after Christmas, when all through the nation, the people were working, all back from vacation.

Many posts online were written with care, in hopes of fun photos and stories to share.

The children were hustling in school which they dread, while visions of 2020 danced happily in their head.

With my kids all settled, and I in my place, my family prepared the long winter’s race.

When fast on the news there arose such a clatter, I changed the channel to see what was the matter.

Away from the screen, I ran in a dash, tore open my phone — sent a text in a flash.

The world on the edge of the new-fallen plague, there’s a cluster of info — most of it vague.

When what to our wondering eyes did appear, POTUS making a promise — it will all disappear!

With one eye on the science and the other on him, we knew in a moment the outlook was grim.

More rapid than bees, the masks were in place, some whistled and shouted — “Not on MY face!”

Now, family! Now, friends! Now, woman and man! On Facebook! On Twitter! The fighting began!

To the top of the porch! To the top of any wall! Now scream away! Scream away! Scream away all!
